Puerto Pollensa to the Boquer Valley

We leave Puerto Pollensa Bay from the famous Pine Walk and head up Avenue de Bocchoris and head over the road walking through the Avenue de Bocchoris, formally the driveway to the Bouquer Farm.  At the top of the avenue we cross over the roundabout and follow the signs for the Cami de Cala Boquer (Video 1:40).  We follow the trail up towards the Boquer Farm passing through the first gate then reaching the farm on our right, before heading through a second gate and turning right up the concrete slope (Video 2:50).  We gentle climb and head between the slopes of the Serra del Cavall and the Creveta Ridge.

We pass through the two pinnacles following well defined tracks (Video 3:20).  There are many to choose, none and right or wrong, all head NW.  It is well to observe in the number of birds and goats in the valley.

Climb up the Serra del Caval Bernat.

As we continue our walk along the valley we come to a stone wall (Video 4:40) which heads off towards out climb on our left.  The climb up to the ‘eye’ in the Caval Berna is not one to be taken lightly, you will need a good pair of shows and a brave heart, the views from the ‘eye’ make it all worthwhile.  You will notice many small piles of stones ‘Knowles’, where possible you should try and follow these.  It is roughly a 45 minute climb and 25 minute decent.

Once in the ‘eye’ be careful and there is a 1000ft shear drop (Video 5:50).  The views from here make it all worth it, with views across Cala St Vincent, Pollensa Bay, along the Boquer Valley and onwards through the stunning Tramuntana Mountain range towards Formentor.

The climb down is a bit tricky and you are likely to slip on the stones underfoot, be careful.  When descending, start to head towards the Cala (bay) on your way (Video 7:00)

Drop into Cala Boquer.

As we descend into the valley the terrain flattens out for a while, giving our knees a rest.  We continue to the head of the Cala, before heading down into the Cala itself (Video 7:20).  There is now a gentler drop into the Cala, once again on well-trodden paths.  At the end of the descent the bay appears to reveal itself through the rocks (Video 7:25).  If you have the time and inclination, it is well worth dipping your feet in the water, or maybe even go for a swim.  Be careful on the weather conditions as there are many rocks underfoot.

Cala Bouquer to Puerto Pollensa.

Once you have spent time in the Cala it is time to head back to Puerto Pollensa.  This is pretty straight forward as we are retracing our steps, although we can take many different paths as we go, enjoy the scenery on our way.  We climb once again into the valley and head for the two rock pinnacles as we go (Video 9:00)
