Overview.

The Northumberland coast offers some of the finest coastal walking in Europe. The Northumberland Coast Path follows this stunningly beautiful coastline for 100 kilometres (62 Miles) from Cresswell in the south to Berwick-upon-Tweed in the north. Alongside sandy beaches, over rocky headlands, past dramatic castles and through attractive coastal villages, the Northumberland Coast Path offers a constantly changing landscape which is a pleasure to explore.

Stage 5 –Belford to Fenwick (7.7 miles)

Starting from the market town of Belford Market Place, opposite the Blue Bell Hotel, where we head west along the B6349 (West Road).  We come to a large white building on our right and head down the lane, as indicated by the route signage.  After 150mtr we turn left along the Belford Burn and head off across the fields (Video 2:00).

We continue along the path, passing The Hag and Weetside Crag before arriving at Swinhoe Farm (Video 4:10).  Our path then takes us through Virgin Hill Woods (Video 4:45), and to a great vantage point (Video 5:00), before we take the signed path to St Cuthbert’s Cave (Video 6:40).  After spending some time at the cave, we retrace our tracks and pick up the route to Fenwick once again.  Continuing along the path we reach Shiellow Woods (Video 7:50) and start a very pleasant wooded walk down into Fenwick and the conclusion of Stage 5 of the Northumberland Coast Path.
