How did they perform in the field?
The jacket was worn on several different walks, including mountains, fells, trails and in varying conditions, and performed well.
Below are the key findings.
The Highlights:
- The jacket is a good fit and did not ride up at all.
- The drawstring at the base worked well and was easy to adjust in the field.
- The item can easily be worn as a mid-layer or top-layer.
- When used with a day pack, the jacket did not ride up the back.
- The item is not advertised as waterproof, although it is showerproof.
- When in windy conditions, and no outer shell was worn, the wind-blocking characteristics were good.
- The rubberised cord ends on the zips worked well and were easy to use with gloves on.
- The material used under the armpits worked well with a day pack and allowed for wicking.
- The item design is very pleasing to the eye
Points to be aware of:
- When worn as a mid-layer, under a shell with a day pack, it generated a lot of heat, and when worn with the Craghopper Creevey Jacket struggled to wick effectively.
- It would be nice to see hem adjustments on either side of the hips, so you do not have a longer drawstring on one side which can get caught in other equipment,
