Getting the right mid-layer can be an important part of a good days walking, too thick and bulky (too hot and uncomfortable), too thin (cold and uncomfortable), or wrong fit (bad days walking)
We put the Sherpa Rolpa Vest through its paces by looking at the equipment itself, identifying key features, then taking it into the field and through several differing conditions and finally feedback on our findings, see below and through the review video.

Environment and sustainability.

How did they perform in the field?
The Gillet has been used in the field both as a mid-layer and also as an outer layer. The walking conditions were varied, from trails to mountains, trails and fells. The weather conditions were from cold through to warm and hot, as well as rain.
Overall the socks performed very well:
The Highlights:
- The off-should seams were useful, when used with a day pack. No pressure from the vest was felt on the shoulders.
- The jacket became a go-to item of apparel during the trial period, as it kept the torso warm and left the arms free.
- When layering up and down during a walk, the vest performed well as a mid-layer as well as an outer layer.
- There was no riding up of the vest when worn as a mid or outer-layer.
- The material is very soft and versatile.
- Zips functioned well in all conditions.
- The neck fit is good, and the material did not chaff.
- Every item bought from Sherpa buys a day at school for the children of Nepal.
- This is a brand with a heart .
Points to be aware of:
- Very little to be honest.
- A personal preference would be to have a drawstring at the base of the vest. This is more of a personal preference.
