Sweethope Loughs – Northumberland (13 miles)
After parking up, we head west along the path towards Hallington Reservoir East (Video 1:15) before continuing towards Little Swinburn (Video 2:30). After leaving Little Swinburn we visit a ruined tower (Video 3:15). Continuing north, we come to Colt Crag Reservoir, where it is worth taking a detour along the south bank as you get a great view across the water (Video 4:30).
We continue north, eventually walking through a nice forested area, before coming to the south east point of Sweethope Loughs. The route takes us along the southern side of the Lough (Video 7:45). The path circles Sweethope Loughs in a clockwise direction, eventually we reach the head of the Lough (Video 9:00) and pick up some of the local history.
As we leave the Lough behind us, heading east, we pass Sweethope Farm (Video 10:40) with an original hand operated water pump. Then pass Sweethope Crags on our way to the trig point at Bavington Crags (Video 11:40).
We conclude the walk passing through Great Bavington and Little Bavington (Video 12:50) before heading down the road to Hallington and the end of this great walk.
