How did they perform in the field?
The jacket was worn on the trail from day one and did not need to be worn in. The jacket was worn on several walks from 6 to 18 miles, for a total of around 90 miles. This was on varying terrain from fells, trails, climbs and across open paths. Weather conditions were from dry to rainy and windy
The overall jacket performed well in the field and became my ‘go-to’ jacket. Below is the key review feedback:
The Highlights:
- This is a very versatile jacket, which lends itself to many different conditions in the field.
- The breathability of the jacket worked well when you exert a lot of energy and in adverse weather conditions.
- The wind-blocking characteristics are good, when on the peaks.
- Zips are easy to use, moving freely.
- Access to the pockets is not restricted when wearing a pack.
- The comfort fit works well when layering up.
- The length of the jacket sits under the buttocks, and there is little/no ‘ride up’ of the jacket
- Design of the cuffs works well with a mixture of the longer length on the top of the wrist and the Velcro and elasticated closing.
- Hood and collar adjustments make for a snug fit in the field and can be adjusted for all conditions. When moving your head, the hood fits well.
Possible concerns:
- During the field trial, there were no concerns.
