Wallington Hall & Gardens, River & Cambo Walk.

There is so much to experience in such a short walk.  Starting at Wallington Hall we then head to the East Wood and Walled Gardens.  It is worth spending some time to explore all that is on offer.  Leaving the gardens we have a very pleasant walk along the River Wansbeck and wooded trails before reaching the village of Cambo. This can all be experienced in an easy intensity walk of 5.7 miles.

Remember, there is also a fly through video on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLhaGAqBgzZk5biKNwrDepFIxNy-uJcZ7i

Turn by Turn Directions

After parking up (there are parking charges for non NT members).  It is worth dropping into the visitor centre (Video 1:45), before we head to the clock tower and Wallington Hall itself (Video 2:00).  Skirting around the side of the hall, we can see its full scale.  Leaving the hall we head towards the East Woods, it is worth visiting the gargoyles on the way (Video 2:40).  On entering East Wood, there are many POI including wood sculptures and lakes (Video 4:10) then we enter the walled gardens (Video 4:30).  It is worth taking some time to explore the gardens yourself.  We head south and exit (Video 5:20), before we approaching the River Wansbeck, and the start of our river and woodland walk.

We walk along the southern bank before crossing the bridge (Video 7:30).  Then continue our tranquil woodland walk along well maintained paths, before heading over the fields towards Cambo (Video 10:21).  There are some great views across the countryside, before reaching Cambo.  It is worth exploring Cambo (Video 11:45), the first village that was gifted to NT, with the Wallington Estate in 1942.

On leaving Cambo, we trek across the fields towards Prior Hall, with some very pleasant views along the way.  Once again reaching East Woods (Video 14:10), taking an alternative path through the woods (Video 14:45) to the conclusion of this very pleasant shorter walk.
