Walking the Alcudia Peninsula Peaks

There are some challenges along the way, but what a rewarding walk.  You can experience some tranquil, as well as, exhilarating walking, taking in pine woods and valley walking.  Not to mention the peaks and cliffs, don’t forget the magnificent views along the way and from our peak at 445Mtr

.

Turn by Turn Directions

We commence our walk at Ermita de la Victoria (Google PIN available on start point link below) and follow signs for Campament de la Victoria (Video 1:40).  The walk starts through a tranquil pine woodland, where bird song was our companion.  The path lends itself to good walking shoes, as it is uneven with many stones and rocks.  Continuing on our way to Campament de la Victoria, the path flattens out and we start to see some of the views across Bahia de Pollensa (Video 2:50).

As we approach Bonaire (Video 3:30), we see some of the villas, before we sweep around to head southeast, and up the valley.  Be careful from this point onwards, there are many trails and paths, and it becomes easy to take the wrong one.  All of the walk routing is on Outdoor Active, through the link below, and you can use their free app.

Reaching the head of the valley (Video 4:10). Our path, which will take us to the summit of Talaia d’Acudia (Talaia de la Victoria) heads north.  As we start to climb, we are rewarded with some great views across the bay, and you can see the track we took through the valley (Video 5:30).

Now we have a steady climb to the peak.  Reaching the summit we have the challenge of a ridge (Video 6:40), before the final climb to the summit on a vertical ridge with drop-offs on either side (Video 7:20).  Please be careful.

The summit of Talaia d’Acudia (Talaia de la Victoria) offers great views across both Alcudia Bay and Bahia de Pollensa.  There are some ruined buildings to explore Bahia de Pollensa before our descent.  The descent is steady, but can be a little treacherous (Video 10:50), as the path has crumbled away at points.

Our path once again takes through a pine wooded area on a good path.  It is easy to miss the turn to our first extension (Video 12:00), which is very much worth taking for the views alone.  Coming back to the main path we continue downhill, and come to a U-Turn in the path (Video 13:30).  If you wish to take the second extension, which is heavily suggested, you will need to take the path ahead of us at this point.

This path is well-trodden.  As we continue on our way, we come across some interesting paths cut into the cliffside and a walk through the cliffs (Video 14:30).  As we reach pas de sa Penya Roja we are rewarded with the fantastic views across the Bahia de Pollensa, there is also an interesting stone structure to explore (Video 14:35).

Our return follows the same path (Video 16:00).  We return to the main path, which we left, and follow the wide trail to the conclusion of what has been a challenging and rewarding walk.
