May 23, 2023Hareshaw Linn Waterfall – Berry & Callerhues Crags.
This is a walk of two halves. The first is a tranquil valley walk along the Hareshaw Burn passing any waterfalls on the way. We then head onto the fells and pick up The Pennine Way before peaking on Berry and Callerhues Crags, before concluding our walk back in Bellingham.

Turn by Turn Directions
After parking up (Google PIN available on start point link below), in Bellingham, we follow the signs for Hareshaw Linn Waterfall (Video 1:40). The walk quickly takes us on a track heading north along the side of Hareshaw Burn. We several waterfalls and cross over 6 bridges on our way to Hareshaw Linn Waterfall (Video 5:05). It is worth stopping off and taking some time to take in the beauty of the gauge.
After spending some time at Hareshaw Linn Waterfall we retraced our path until coming to bridge 6 (Video 5:50). We now need to climb up the bank on the eastern side of the gauge. Reaching a stone wall, and gate (Video 6:50) we pick up the path of the Pennine Way, it is useful to use the OS GPS App and your compass and we head North, on our right we have some great views of Berry Crag and Callerhues Crags, which are on our return path.
Reaching Berry Crag we get some great panoramic views from the disused stone structure (Video 9:10). Continuing south west we head towards the cairn on Callerhues Crag. The path along the Crag offers us some excellent views over the countryside (Video 10:10). As we drop down from the Crag, we have a small lake ahead of us followed by the trees on Highstead Hill, which guide us along our path. Leaving the wooded area behind us, we follow a defined path (Video 11:00) towards another wooded area.
We eventually pick up a single-track road for a short while, before taking the track for Blakelaw Farm, where the path is signed (Video 12:00) for Bellingham and the conclusion, of what has been a really varied and enjoyable days walking.
