Turn by Turn Directions

Starting at Clennel (see start point link below), just north of Alwinton we head up the valley along the path of the River Alwin.  After cross this bridge we can see The Dodd ahead of us (see Video at 2:20).  It is a steady climb to the summit of The Dodd at 332 Mtr and the views are worth the climb (see Video at 2:50).  Our path now takes us across the fells as we head towards Puncherton Hill and onwards to Puncherton Farm (see Video at 4:25).  We then head through the farm yard (see Video at 4:45), before heading across the fells once again.

A word of warning here.  You need to be careful not to lose your route, as there are no discernible landmarks to head for; it really is worth downloading the OS GPS App and clicking on the map below to access the walk route at no charge.

We now reach Gills Law at 399 Mtr and we can see the valley of Biddlestone Burn, as we look for a waterfall (see Video at 6:50).  As we head down into the valley/gauge the undergrowth is dense, so please be careful.  Due to the dense undergrowth was not possible to get to the waterfall (see Video at 7:30).  We now start a steady climb to the summit of Cold Law at 399 Mtr (see Video at 8:10); the views from here are vast.

We now descend Cold Law, again be careful, as the lower reaches are steep with dense undergrowth.  Once over Biddlestone Burn, there is a near vertical climb for a short while, but the views back up the valley are fantastic (see Video at 9:45).

We now follow the path past Biddlestone Cottages and passing Biddlestone Home Farm on our way to the road (see Video at 10:45).

Our path now takes us over the fells once again and onwards to Silverton Hill (see Video at 11:20), where again we have some magnificent views reaching across to the Simonside Hills.  Once we start our descent from Silverton Hill we have a steady path towards Clennell and the conclusion of a great day filled with adventure.
